I am a microbiologist and molecular biologist pursuing a Ph.D. at the Smith Lab in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at Duke University. Before coming to Duke, I earned my BS in Food Engineering at the Federal University of Viçosa in Brazil, with a minor in Biotechnology at the University of Lorraine in France. I also earned a Master’s in Genetics and Molecular Biology from the State University of Campinas in Brazil.

As an educator in the life sciences realm, I encourage my students to explore science with curiosity and drive for discovery.
